The AWM Research Symposium 2017 Poster Session

The Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) invites early-career women to give a poster presentation at AWM Research Symposium 2017 at the University of California, Los Angeles April 8-9, 2017. This meeting will also feature 4 plenary talks, 19 special sessions on a wide range of topics in pure and applied mathematics, math history and math education, a Wikipedia edit-a-thon, a banquet, and opportunities for discussion and networking.

Eligibility: Applications are welcome from women who have received their PhDs within approximately the last five years and from graduate students who have made substantial progress on their doctoral thesis.

Funding:  AWM has received funding from the National Security Agency (NSA) to offer partial support for graduate students who present posters. Note: funding from NSA is restricted to US citizens.  A separate funding form will be provided to eligible applicants.

All applications should include

  • a cover letter,
  • a title and brief abstract (no more than 1 or 2 paragraphs) of the proposed poster,
  • a curriculum vitae, and
  • a *brief* letter of recommendation from a faculty member or research mathematician who knows the applicant’s research.  In particular, a graduate student should have a letter of recommendation from her thesis advisor.

Applications should be submitted at MathProgams.org (https://www.mathprograms.org/db/programs/509) by January 25, 2017.

Late applications and/or recommendation letters cannot be accepted. Decisions on applications are expected to be made by February 15, 2017.
